Tolerance towards Maggi..Maggi...Maggi!

Maggi is back...with a bang. The ads are all over, leave ads, Maggi is all all the supermarkets, in all the small kirana stores and may be houses too. Not sure though.

Whenever I see that advertisement....."मेरी माँ सही थी, मैं भी सही हूँ", that is enough to remind me that my mom always told me, "Don't eat too much maggi!" Right from the beginning. I, like many others, was sooooo fond of Maggi(*3), that I always used my super power of selective hearing.

Maggi has been my saviour after marriage. All I knew was Maggi(*3). Whenever my maid took chutti, I made, super-dry maggi, too-watery maggi, too-hot-maggie, No-masala-maggi, soup-overcooked-maggi, too-much-onion-maggi, no-onion-maggi, jala-hua maggi, kucha maggi, not-so-perfect maggi and perfect maggi.

My baby, as expected, she loved..loved maggi. I was skeptical about giving her the same, so at times she used to get the treat when she behaved well.

पर जब मैग्गी पर सवाल उठे, my mom was the first one to call me, and tell me to immediately throw away whatever I had in my pantry. My selective hearing was on and I was waiting for a miracle news that all tests shows, Maggi is fine.

But no. There was some problem. Some major problem. Such a problem that all Maggi packets were called back.

I felt soo hurt, cheated, sad.

मेरी माँ सही थी, मैं गलत थी!

Now when I see the ads, it definitely brings a smile....vho raat ki cooking, vho jaldi, easy khana, that super yummy taste...Ummmm!

But I have a question, we (many of us, at least) were soo angry with Mr Khan for that super famous Intolerance comment, we(many of us again) called him names and what not?

Are we going to forgive maggi soo easily? For actually cheating us? For playing with our health? For playing with our children's health? If maggi सेफ थी, then why was a callback done? Why yet many states have not allowed maggi?

I don't know if it is just a thought or am I still sad that Maggi did wrong to all of us!

That's said, I wonder if I will have the courage to go back to Maggi. But knowing my love, love, love for the maggi, maggi, maggi, my husband has made a plan. It's my anniversary soon, and I have got a news from my khufia sources that my husband has planned a surprise Midnight Maggi party for me.

Well, what can I say, I just hope my bucha sleeps through this party :/

Disappointed with you, Flipkart!

I am angry...disappointed.... Sad! With you....flipkart.

I have been almost a regular customer of flipkart until flipkart itself discouraged me to the extent of moving to other online shopping sites. Literally & Actually!

1: can't force me to use your app. You can't dictate whether I browse through your site, through normal browser or your application.

I will not install your app....not if you force me to do so. Why shall I?

This is my choice what app I have on my phone and by any chance if you are trying to have a similar strategy as ola...'ola-cabs booking app for booking a cab is a must'...then hello and wake up. Ola needs to know our actually exact location to get us the cab at the earliest. But with you flipkart, there is no such restrictions.

I refuse to use your app. I would rather use my lappy or let go those vouchers. Plus, genuinely speaking, I might have a space/storage issue....which I always run out off. What am I supposed to do in that case? Please answer :-/

Second most irritating part of you ....flipkart!

Before the one-day guarantee delivery, there was a normal wait time of 2-5 days for many products. But now....whatever you buy if going through normal will take at least 7-10 days.

We...the common humans are not mad. We understand that you are fooling us. Big Time.

Whatever be it, you have disappointed me enough.

Someone's loss ....someone's profit,.

Although I know by losing one customer out of your bag, you are not going to lose much...but hey I was there for my profit....not yours! So be it!!

Bye bye Flipkart!!

Thing to remember when doing painting!

I have a friend who has somewhat better idea of painting been done and all but I know there are many people who have no idea of painting and the fallouts and some benefits.

I am not an expert on painting but there are few suggestions which my friend told me....I want to share!

1) If you are getting any wall painted and you are confused....GET A SAMPLING DONE.
Speak to the contractor before you fix the deal...that for every room you will want at least two sample colors done before you give a go.

For sure that person will tell you, it is chargeable and this and that.....then don't fix the deal.

Cause...what you see on the color booklet is not what you get on the wall. We wanted a very light shade of yellowish-brown and a comparative deep brown. We asked for sample for deep brown, one came out as brick red and other as deep brown. Both shades were above and below...which means very close and in the same family.....but the difference was huge.

2) If you are stuck with the color selection....ask Aparna....on the Asian Paint site and she will forward you to a color consultant and they suggest a fair color according to you room and choice.

Luckily we were doing Asian Paint and but unfortunately the Asian paint consultant couldn't visit my area, so I got the support online.

You can always try!

3) Don't panic cause of dust....dust and dust everywhere. Collect all your valuables....and run away...hahaha That's exactly what I want to do. Just Keep Calm. These days would pass soon and the result would be great.

Hoping for the same...keeping my calm....

Painting Shock!!!

I have never got my house painted ever....rather I have not even seen any painting been done at my mom's place! Whenever we used to be away in the boarding school, all these painting and all the jhamela used to happen and never with all of us around.

All I knew about hassles of painting is...throwing paints on each other...playing with the paints....wearing a nice bandana and rolling the fancy colors...through the walls on that funky-looking ladder!

Phew! There you are! Done with the painting!

You start in morning and by night you are all set in a fresh looking house....and you sleep tight. Remember "Wake up Sid"...where all friends paint the house....or any advertisement...where painting is done without any dust....without any adjustment in the house...without any...any....ANY issues!

If you also fall into my category......please wake up and see what lies ahead...of painting....

I call it the PAINTING SHOCK....

Imagine a superlatively active house and this mess!

Well...hoping that it all ends soon and it becomes as fresh and as clean and as beautiful as new....but till then....WISH ME LUCK!!!!

Mom the strongest!!!

I think there was no better time than this for writing a blog about giving my mommy a de-stress therapy! Here I go....

It so happened that my father had to go for his routine check up. This time though, it was decided that we should get this done in a best-known multispecialty hospital in Gurgoan(still regretting this decision though!)  Any which ways, the trip was planned and since it was just a regular check full body check-up, only my parents were going.

The whole plan which they explained to us, seemed easy as a pie...My dad would be admitted and they will do all the test with just one family member around. One help will be provided especially for us to take my father around for different checkups and tests. We will not have to run around finding rooms/doctors, that boy-help will help us.

This is what was told. Simple...isn't it!

Well, it just sounded simple till the first day. Every test stated in the package was done but as the test was in the final step, ECG was the last one. They detected a "blockage". They made a havoc in my parent's mind. They made them feel that "right now some major surgery should be done...Must must must be done!"

My parents are doctors. When they saw the reports they were okay with it but the way the entire drama was built, even they got quite nervous. They agreed for a detailed test - angiography the following day!
The night was beyond our limit to handle stress. We three, my sister, brother and me, got our tickets done. We were to reach by next evening to New Delhi.

The sun again shined, though it was tensed morning for us. My mom and dad reached hospital at stated time and when they reached there, what happened was quiet unexpected.

The staff insisted my parents to under angioplasty...without even getting the angiography done. My parents got a doubt in their mind. They straight away rejected their suggestion. They took good Rs 11000/- for angiography. My papa was taken inside and one family member was allowed if he/she had token.  But they didn't let my mother in. My mother gave a piece of mind to the guard and went inside where the procedure was taking place. She saw papa and came back.

There was another old man whose wife was taken inside and they were not allowing him inside. My mother asked him to get the token. He got it. And told him, just go one can stop you if you have one. The guard didn't dare to stop that old man.

To our surprise, before doing anything, they gave the report stating that he will have a very minor blockage as he has asthma. But it is nothing to worry.

Really? Were you kidding last evening?

Then the discharge drama started. Pay-counters are easily accessible but the place where you get discharge ticket is probably in the Patal-lok. Going down and down makes you nervous as the crowd was less and you actually don't know where you will reach. My mother...all alone was trying hard to find the place. Did you ask about the boy-help ...especially for us...well he refused to get or even accompany my mother to show where the discharge forms are filled...he said he can only help with the patient movement. Somehow, one gentleman...another boy helper saw my mother very troubled, so helped her. He showed her the counter...came back with  her and helped her and papa out of hospital.

Corporatization in hospitals....reaching a target has made a scary atmosphere. For reaching their targets...I don't think they will think twice before operating a completely healthy person. The operation or expensive tests seem to have no relation with the health of the patient.
Well, my parents got alert but the way they talk, I am sure many have already fallen into their trap. God will help them.

But in all this fuss, my mom reassured us again. She is the most most strongest(wrong  English....but no one made a word to express what I feel ;) ) lady in the whole wide world!!! If it was me in your place, I don't know how lost I would be. But thank God it was you, Maa. You are our inspiration and idol. Not letting situation taking over you and dealing with everything with full force....I am just sooo sooo proud of the fact that I am your child!!!

I’m blogging about why my mother needs to de-stress with a Parachute Advansed Aromatherapy Oil massage for the #StressFreeMom activity at BlogAdda.

Celebrities and their endorsements!

Every now and then we see a celebrity endorsing a new brand. Well, सच पूछो तो I feel,  पैसा इंसान से कुछ भी करा सकता है!

Really! It's true. A actor promoting a beauty the fakest I feel. They would not even have seen the product before and after the shoot. They must be using some super-expensive, hard to find products.

No question about the fact that whether they use the products or not, they do make the product visible. If they wouldn't have endorsed those product, probably we wouldn't have noticed it as well.

Few products are meant for celebrities. It looks as if the product were made for them to endorse. According to me, my list of celebrity endorsing brands should be:

Fair & lovely:

Remember Kajol in Bazigaar! She was a dusky beauty back then but now she has changed and she is glowing more and more with every passing day!
Secret revealed:
Fair & Lovely ;)

Zandu Balm:

Shahrukh Khan has an unstoppable & inexhaustible energy. He may look his age but definitely his actions needs a support system.

Mrs. & Mr. Bachchan are the cutest couple (after my parents though ;) )! In spite of a lot of differences among them and other influences, they seem to be inseparable! Hmmm Mazboot zor..bahut mazboot!

Indulekha Oil:
Do I really need to say more! People out there...who have hair loss problems, please get inspired!

Although Nokia is no more, it still the first phone brand I had.
It is a true story. If you do "No kia", there are many beautiful/handsome people who can connect! No actually connecting people!!

Bodycare Thermal Wear
Our dear Delhi CM can't handle the famous Dilli ki sardi! But he does looks like fighting it in a wonderful way!

Bodycare INSIDER(andur ki khabar)

Kayam Churn
With every movie, Mr Hashmi is becoming more and more expressive. But whenever I see him, to me...his expression says "absolute no romance"...they speak a different story!

A bucket challenge!

The lallas and the babus of India were forced by their better halves/sisters/friends to take up a challenge!

A bucket challenge - If you are thinking of the ice cold water and the entire Bollywood/Hollywood/world, getting soaked with it, then's actually better than that.

When we get married, in all mantras and promises, we as husband and wife promise to help each other in every aspect of life. But our minds are already set or rather divided. Divided in terms of work.

The bride...working or a home-maker, has to take care of the household things. Be it kitchen, cleaning, clothes, cupboard, kids, etc...etc...etc!(Trust me the list for a married woman does goes on and on and on!) While the groom dreams for a life where he wakes up to a hot cup of coffee, finishes his daily course, has hot tummy-full variety breakfast and finally goes to office with a big hot-case Tiffin with may be four dubbas(containers) in it. He comes back to a *sorted house and watches TV after opening his shoes anywhere in the house, leaving his laptop bag in middle of the centre table and foot stretchered while changing various news/cricket channels, asking for chai-pakore!!!

This division of labour has become a tradition. Our forefathers/mothers did, our grandfather/mother did, our father/mother did and so it is just going to be carried over. Since childhood, I have seen that female gender means that they will do household work, male gender are exempted from any such enforcement to help in household work.

May I ask WHY? WHY? WHY?

Off topic, my daughter is a complete Peppa Pig buff and there was one particular one which I really liked.

The kids don't mind their father doing the washing(though he just washed his t-shirt)! It's not a big deal, it's just a mind set.

We keep breaking a zillions of tradition to suit us, can't we break this one too! It needs to start some era!

So, let the change begin!!!

Wash Bucket Challenge

Let's talk about the challenge, which I gave him. To wash a bucket full clothes! Well, I don't know about love for my husband and all(five years, you see) but I do my clothes. If they are being washed, they need to be clean. With the person in charge, I took a extra care...I changed the washing powder packet with Ariel Matic.

As expected, he couldn't see the dirt and spots, which should be removed before you put them into the machine. Thank God, Ariel Matic...had that much sense and my clothes were in a prim and proper state. Just the way I like it, perfect!!!

Thanks Ariel Matic, you kept the spirit and hopes high!  The job looked so simple that my husband insisted on sharing my work load. Really! The work where I need to wash the clothes. The clothes come out sparkling clean**.

                     My friend's husband:
Sur....he is indeed sharing your load....happily! We need to thank the magic.. Oh Matic!

This post is a part of the #WashBucketChallenge activity at is association with Ariel India' in your blog post.

*Sorted house: If the house happens to be a little unorganised, you can clearly see the whole melodrama of the husbands, of being a complete cleanliness freak. He might keep a wet towel anywhere, he might not get the smell of his extremely loud foot and socks perfume(for which you might need a air freshener, but sir will not realize that there is any smell at all)! The same person would create a ruckus. Oh, yes my cleanliness God! HUH!

** I wonder if I still trust my clothes with my husband, but definitely my trust lies in that washing powder, Ariel Matic! For that few minutes of 'My time', I can give you my lifetime of unconditional love, unwavering commitment and saath(companionship)! Thank You!

Let go!

Sometimes in life, it is essential to let go!

There are so many times we take a wrong turn/decision. We miss out an opportunity which would had been a game-changing or even lose on what we hold due to our stupid mistake.

I made a mistake. Maybe a big one. Cause of that mistake I missed out on many opportunities. But the fact remains the same, what is done, is done.

How many days can you cry on a missed/lost chance?

I cried...for days! Or maybe a month! I don't know. But I cried over it so much that that my family/friends got tired of explaining me and uplifting my mood. I became a typical cry baby or a devdas as a matter of fact. Expect that I kept on crying on tea and coffees!

My state was such that even if a tsunami would have come and made my life all upside down...I would still have cried for that stupid mistake of mine.

I was not ready to forgive me. But then how long could I hold on a broken string. One fine day I just woke up and I forgave myself for the mistake. I let that opportunity go like it never meant to be.

The moment I let go..all those feelings, I was all of sudden fine. I could breathe normally. I could a lot of goodness in my messed up life. I again put myself back again. With another dream...with another wishes and for other endeavours of life.

If you ever made an mistake...if can't let it go, just try forgiving yourself. Just try letting go! You will feel happy. You will fresh and happy.

Let go in life and let yourself be lucky...again!

WhatsApp call feature!

It's welcome move by - WhatsApp! Calling feature.

Well, in a year...around six months me and my husband stay away from each other. Five years down and still going strong....may be this distance keeps us connected ;-) haha!

Well, this "connected" is technology bound. Totally. I can't even imagine the era where to connecting to people was a task. You either wait for a trunk call or letter.

I wonder how I would be then. Probably I will become a zombie and won't sleep till I receive a call. Goodness me. Not sleeping for good few days. Phew! Probably I would be singing...'mere piya Gaye Rangoon....vaha se kiya hai telephoooon...."! Thank God, I am in this era where technology is at our finger touch and options are varied.

The newest and for me the bestest one is - WhatsApp call feature. My husband and me are addicted to WhatsApp and this feature is just in another tab. Like we had two tab:

Now the same looks like:

Just go to the 'call tab' and call who ever is there in your list. Plus the quality of sound is good, as in there is no disturbance/noise associated with the call.

Thanks whatsapp!

Be there, in win or loss!

You win.... I will forgive all your mistakes!
You lose.... I will forget all your hard work!

We lost a match yesterday, we blamed everything related, unrelated or alienated. Just any reason to blame looks cool and satisfying for us.

Not that there were none, who did support the team! But this trait of blaming-shaming is there in our whole system, that too from long.

Talking about parents here....they have some dreams for their children. They feel their children will make them proud. Their children work accordingly. They work and try to match to their parent's expectation.(Talking in general terms, not including the exception!)

If they do as desired:
Parents celebrate their child, they distribute sweets, throw parties, call every single person they know to tell about their glorious child and his/her achievements.

If at all, they fail:
Parents find 'n' number of excuses for their failures.
*    They didn't work hard,
*    Galat dost hai iske,
*    Jab dekho tub Mobile, call, chat,
*    Girlfriend/boyfriend kaa shauk chadha hai!
Blaaa bllaaaa bllaaaa!

These parents also hide their face and avoid getting into conversation with anyone. They feel ashamed and let down.

My question is, WHY?

Didn't your child work? If he failed, he too is extremely hurt and pained. His hard work has gone in drain. In spite of supporting him/her many  parents shout at them and give them a disappointed look.

Remember the movie - Tarre Zameen Pur, where the elder son, Vihaan is trying hard to win a tennis match and loses. His father didn't hide his disappointed emotions and openly showed his son how let down he felt.

I know that all parents are not like that and I salute you for not pressuring your child with your expectations. But if you do, please stop. It's not human. Your child does his best and he will do better if you just give him one simple thing - your support!

It's the same thing we do with the team India, when they win, we make them sit on our eyelashes(hehe literally speaking!) But we can't accept the other side.

Come on people, better team won and that's about it! Hope next time we support our team in a better manner, in their wins and in their loss!

Surname Change

Should a woman change her maiden surname after marriage?

A positive no and a affirmative NO and a loud NOOOOOOOOO.

Why shall we change the very basic credential of ours. Just because I am married, I am supposed to do the following:

> Change my house.
> New family which are supposed to PLEASE
> Wear sindoor, bangles, bichiya, ring....etc(though I have personally no issue in this clause ;) )
> You can't go to your mumma-papa's house on every festival.
> Even if you work, you need to see how things are going on in the house, Housework!

On top of all these changes, I need to change my name?

This name has been my identity and changing it for anyone sake is not what I really wanted. Thank God that my husband didn't had any issue with me not changing my name or modifying it in any way. Not on my personal life...not on my papers. I think, if he wants to accept me, he can do that without me having to do at least that basic change in me.

You by my side!

With you by my side, there is never darkness!

I remember a time when I was working for a sales-oriented company. The organization was no doubt very big, but the whole atmosphere/culture of the organization was so negative that an optimistic person could turn double negative, leave the ones who are pessimistic!

I was not related to the sales process, I was just in a supportive Human Resource team. I was a spectator to the chaos going on there. Seniors getting into their bosses rooms, coming out and shouting their heart out on their juniors. The juniors, few newcomers, few old ones, went out with a long face and shamed look, looking down for a space to hide themselves, probably! They used to get yelled at for nothing. Nothing at all. All I could do was, keep calm within me!

But of course no one wants to work in such an environment, I was looking for another job. Luckily, I found some opening which matched my exact profile and was the perfect kind of job for me. I jumped up at the opportunity and went to grab it. I was looking for that job with such high hopes that I didn't let me think that there can be any other option other than - 'Getting this job!" I was nervous, I had to get the job! When I reached the interview room, it seemed perfect but whatever simple questions the interviewer asked, I could answer none. Not the ones I knew, like back of my hand, not the ones I didn't know! I was completely lost, I just wanted that job anyhow. It was such a perfect kind of place. Calm, employees smiling/cracking jokes/ like any other software company. Happy place. But the answers! Ahhhh!

I still don't know what happened to me that day, why did I go under such a pressure, how easily I lost that opportunity!

The worst part, it was my first birthday after marriage. It got ruined! Completely! I thought I would leave a negative place for an awesome company, but all my dreams got shattered. I was completely broken!

I went home, with big-big tears in my eyes, through the way-home. I just wanted to cry. Alone in my room! When I unlocked my door, I was utterly shocked to see my husband who had skipped his office to do some "first birthday taiyari". I went and hugged him, and cried like a baby! He had no idea why I was crying but he held on me and comforted me till I was in a state to talk. I told him everything! Not that he didn't knew about this company culture I was working for, but neither he nor me was aware that I was affected by the atmosphere to this extent!

He held me tight and said, "For me, resign from this one first and later we will look for another job! You really deserve a better organisation to work for!" It was the most unexpected reply I heard from him, but may be the one I wanted to! I cried, more this time! Haha!

He had planned a dinner out in a awesome place, but all we did was sat in our favourite corner in the house, wrote the resignation letter, ordered a pizza and the choco-lava cake, laughed like maniacs and celebrated our relationship and togetherness! After losing the-best-opportunity-ever, resigning from the existing job, being unemployed, not going out for a lavish dinner, I had the best birthday ever!

I still lookup to that day as the one which gave me strength to look beyond and be positive and lookup at you...being there by my side!!!

My life, My rules!

Starting a new life - a fresh life! This line takes me back to years back when I was going for my first job, out of my town, out of my comfort zone.

Calcutta, as it was known then, was the place where I had to join. I was much eager to go and start a new life where I live on my own and earn for my own bread and butter.

My parents were very worried as to how I will live and survive on my own. They spoke to many known people and found that a PG(paying-guest) was run by an old lady was very good and safe. I was put there. My parents went back and I remained there. Alone, in that group of girls living with me in that PG. I still don't have words to express that feeling, being alone and yet being super excited and soo scared.

My new life began with full josh but...but it was not as comfortable as I expected it to be. The problem was the PG. The food, was beyond my expectation and it was pathetic. There used to be crisp and thick rotis, with red-color-spicy daal and a veg which contained potato and small particles of some unrecognizable vegetable. Really. To top it after the food arrived at 10:30 in night, you can't even order anything from outside cause the gate closes at 10:00 PM, leave aside going outside for hunt of food. I remember, one of my friend and me survived on just watermelons and slices of bread. But a month was too much time to tolerate.

I took my decision on my own, for the first time! I thought to shift to an independent house. I convinced to friends of mine and we started hunting for a new house. Two of our weekends went in looking for a house which we could rate as safe, easily accessible to our office and comfortable, which we could call home.

Finally, we got one! In salt lake, in front of a nice self-sufficient market, means it had every basic things which you want to buy on a regular basis. It also had a small kiosk which sold awesome dinner of daal, roti, chicken, right there! It was just a drop from our office. This was it!

I always wanted to live on my own. Without any elder to guard me. Where I live on my terms, good or bad!

Here I was. Next step was to inform my parents, who after listening to my state at the PG were very supportive of me shifting to the new house.

All of us were on cloud 9 while shifting cause it was for good. The day we shifted, we hardly had anything except from our suitcases but arranging that house and giving it a complete makeover to make it our own made us exhausted till core. I remember we sat on the beddings and ordered our very own pizza after 10:00 PM. This house didn't had TV or any source of music but we sang loudly....chodd aye hum vhho galiyaaa...and hogged on our large pizza.

There are so many small pleasures in life which you can only feel when you take a step forward ahead of all your fears, ahead of that line which someone else drew for you and ahead of the set rules. So, break some rules, take a leap and lookup for the joys of life!
